About the event

Get ready for the Great Southern BioBlitz and join this biodiversity survey to discover what plants, animals and fungi live in Willoughby.

Guided by iNaturalist curator and Great Southern BioBlitz (Greater Sydney) Organiser Tim Wang, we will discover some local flora and fauna, and learn how to make wildlife observations and record the diverse life inhabiting our urban bushland.

All you have to do is download the iNaturalist app, sign up for an account, take photos of plants, animals and fungi, and upload your observations. You can also join us for a fun informative webinar on October 19 to learn how to become a citizen scientist.

During this activity we will:

- learn about the Great Southern Bioblitz

- learn how to use the iNaturalist app for reporting biodiversity observations

- conduct a biodiversity survey in one of Willoughby’s bushland reserves

- enjoy a short guided bushwalk.

We will meet at the Warners Park carpark at the end of The Outpost, Northbridge.

What to bring:

- Your own mobile device with the iNaturalist app loaded

- Comfortable covered walking shoes

- Hat and sunscreen

- Water bottle

- Camera optional.
